Financial Incentives

Kurukshetra University is one of the leading university amongst Indian Universities in providing facilities to its sports persons and financial incentives to outstanding sports persons of the University for winning Medals at North Zone/All India Inter University Tournaments and International Tournaments. 
ALL INDIA INTER UNIVERSITY
( a)    Individual Events

 ( i)     Gold Medal                 Rs. 17,000/- per head.

( ii)     Silver Medal               Rs. 13,000/-per head.

(iii)     Bronze Medal             Rs. 11,000/-per head.

 (b)    Team Games
( i)     Gold Medal                  Rs. 15,000/ per head.

( ii)    Silver Medal                 Rs. 12,000/-per head.

(iii)    Bronze Medal              Rs. 10,000/-per head.

(iv)    Fourth Position            Rs.   7,000/ per head .

If a player wins more than one Medal/position in the All India Inter University in the same event/game, additional amount of cash award for the achievements are given as under:

(i)     Gold Medal                     Rs. 10,000/ -per head.
(ii)    Silver Medal                    Rs.  7,000/- per head.

(iii)    Bronze Medal                 Rs. 5,000/- per head.

The players who contribute points towards deciding the overall Championship in the All India Inter University, but are unable to secure any medal are also given cash prizes as under:
1.    If  the team wins first position                  Rs. 5,000/- each to contributing player.

2.    If the team wins second position             Rs. 4,000/- each to contributing player.

3.   If the team wins third position                  Rs. 3,000/- each to contributing player.

4.   If the team wins fourth position                Rs. 2,000/- each to contributing player.
Additional cash award is given to the player if he/she is declared
(i) Best Gymnast/ Athlete/Swimmer/Yogi /Cyclist or Best player in any game,wins
Gold Medal in Decathlon or Heptathlon event in All India Inter University Rs. 7,000/- each.
 
(ii) Second Best Gymnast/ Athlete/Swimmer/Yogi/ Cyclist or Best player in any game,wins Silver Medal in Decathlon or Heptathlon event in All India Inter University Rs. 5,000/- each.
 
(iii) Third Best Gymnast/ Athlete/Swimmer/Yogi/ Cyclist or Best player in any game,wins Bronze Medal in Decathlon or Heptathlon event in All India Inter University Rs. 4,000/- each.
 
2. North Zone Inter University
 
For winning 1st position Rs.5,000/-each.
 
For winning IInd position Rs.4,500/-each.
 
For winning IIIrd position Rs.4,000/-each.
 
For winning IVth position Rs.3,500/-each.
 
3. The Colleges which win Ist /IInd /IIIrd positions in over all Championships of Kurukshetra University Inter Collegiate Tournaments in Men & Women sections are also honoured with cash awards as under:

For winning IInd position in Men & Women sections Rs.21,000/-each.

5. Officiating charges in Inter University Tournaments

(ii) East & West Zone Rs. 2500/-
 
(iii) South Zone Rs. 3000/-
 
7. D.A. to Players

D.A. @ Rs. 250/- per head per day during the days of coaching camps and Rs. 300/- per head per day and Refreshment @ Rs. 40/- per head per match for team games and Rs. 30/- per head per event for individual games is given to the players during the Inter University Tournaments. For practice matches refreshment is Rs. 25/- per head per match.
 
8. Playing Kit 
 
One Track Suit (good quality) and full playing kit is given to all the members of the University teams participating in Inter University Tournaments.
9. Shoe Charges:  1000/- per head
 
10. Equipments:

Standard equipments are provided to the players during the coaching camp and Inter
University Tournaments.

11. Kurukshetra University is the only University of the State, which has the honour of winning prestigious MAULANA ABUL KALAM AZAD (MAKA) TROPHY in 1966-67 which is the symbol of supremacy in sports in Indian Universities. The University has been declared best Fourth in sports for the award of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy during the years 2006-07 and 2nd Runners-up for the year 2007-08 & 2009-10, 2011-12 & 2013-14 & 1st Runners-up in 2010-11 & 2012-13.
 
12. Keeping in view the infrastructure, organisation, participation, achievements and facilities being provided to its sports persons; the Association of Indian Universities in the year 2004 has declared it amongst the 12 leading Universities of the Country and recommended to the H.R.D. Ministry for grant in aid for the development of sports infrastructure in the University.
