MODULE NO / UNIT COURSE SYLLABUS CONTENTS OF MODULE NOTES
1 Review of Filter concepts- Review of design techniques and structures for FIR and IIR filters, representation of numbers, quantization of filter coefficients, round-off effects in digital filters.
2 Multirate Digital Signal Processing: Introduction, Decimation by a factor D, Interpolation by a factor I, sampling rate conversion by rational factor I/D, implementation of sampling rate conversion, multistage implementation of sampling rate conversion, sampling rate conversion of band pass signals, sampling rate conversion by an arbitrary factor, application of Multirate signal processing, digital filter bank, two-channel quadrature-mirror filter bank, M-channel QMF bank.
3 Wavelet Transform: Introduction to wavelet transform- Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT), Wavelet transform, Haar wavelet and Multirate resolution analysis, Daubechies wavelet, some other standard wavelets, applications of wavelet transform.
4 Power Spectrum Estimation: Estimation of spectra from finite-duration observation of signals, non-parametric methods for power spectrum estimation, parametric methods for power spectrum estimation, filter bank methods, Eigen analysis algorithms for spectrum estimation.
