MODULE NO / UNIT COURSE SYLLABUS CONTENTS OF MODULE NOTES
1 Sequential Circuits: Basic Flip- Flops and their working. Synchronous and Asynchronous Flip –Flops, Triggering of FlipFlops, Clocked RS, D Type, JK, T type and Master-Slave Flip-Flops. State Table, State Diagram and State Equations. Flip-flops characteristics & Excitation Tables.
2 Sequential Circuits: Designing registers –Serial-In Serial-Out (SISO), Serial-In Parallel-Out (SIPO), Parallel-In Serial-Out (PISO) Parallel-In Parallel-Out (PIPO) and shift registers. Designing counters – Asynchronous and Synchronous Binary Ripple Counter, Binary Synchronous Counter, Modulo-N Counters and Up-Down Counters.
3 CPU Organization: Stack Based, Accumulator Based, and General Purpose Register Based, ALU Design. Machine Instruction, Instruction Set Selection, Instruction Cycle, Instruction Formats and Addressing Modes with their merits, demerits and suitability
4 Input/ Output Interface: Functions, Program controlled and interrupt-controlled I/O transfer, DMA Transfer, Cycle Stealing. I/O Channels, IOP.
Interrupt Structures: interrupts, types of interrupts, levels and priorities of interrupts - single-level-single-priority, singlelevel-multi-priority, multi-level-single-priority, multi-level-single-priority. Vector interrupt.
