The Centre in collaboration with Faculty Development Centre, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra organized one day online workshop on “Effective Functioning of Women’s Cell and Internal Complaints Committees” on Feb. 9, 2021. More than 100 female faculty members of colleges affiliated to Kurukshetra University participated in the workshop.
In collaboration with Centre for Continuing Education under RUSA 2.0 organized 30 Hour “Online Skill Training Workshop on Food, Nutrition, Health and Wellness of Women” from Feb. 11 to 27, 2021. About 100 female students of the different teaching departments of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra attended the workshop.
Organized one day online workshop on “Strategy for Managing Personal Finance” on March 2, 2021 in collaboration with Association of Mutual Funds in India. Approx. 50 female faculty members and research scholars on campus attended the workshop.
Organized a session on “Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World” as a part of International Women’s Day celebrations on 8 March 2021. Event was attended by more than 150 male and female faculty members, research scholars and students of the university.
The centre organized “Heartfulness Wellness Program” (online) for students on May 21, 2021 in order to make them understand simple stress relieving technique to improve their immunity and enhance their mental and physical wellbeing. Ms. Loveleena, Haryana State Coordinator and Certified trainer of the Heartfulness Institute conducted the session. About 35 students of different teaching departments of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra attended the lecture.
The centre organized She Leads – two days training programme for Strengthening Women’s Leadership in India on Nov. 16-17, 2021 in collaboration with Stree Shakti: The Parallel Force. The centre has signed MoU with this organization. About 70 female students of the different teaching departments of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra attended the programme.
In collaboration with Kurukshetra University Alumni Association organized guest lecture by Mr. Sunil Jaglan from Bibipur village on Women Leadership (online) on 7 Jan. 2022. This event was attended by about 70 students of Kurukshetra University.
Organized a special session on “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow” on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8th March 2022. Keynote speaker was Dr. Shafali Nagpal, Director, Bhagat phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat. 70 female faculty members and research scholars attended the programme.
In collaboration with National Cooperative Union of India organized a webinar on 10 May 2022 on “Successful Cooperative Business Model” for Students of the Campus. About 70 students participated.
WSRC in collaboration with the IIHS organized a seminar on “Cyber Crime and Cyber Hygiene” for students on 9 June 2022. The keynote speaker was Dr. Amit Kumar from Department of Computer Science BITS, Pilani.
In collaboration with UGC-HRDC organized online “Gender Sensitization Programme” for Research Scholars (All Disciplines) on 20-22 July, 2022. 70 male and female research scholars attended.
In collaboration with UGC-HRDC organized “6-days Short Term Course (online) on Women Leadership” for faculty (All Disciplines) from 17-22 Oct. 2022. 32 faculty members attended.
In collaboration with IIHS organized a workshop on “Discrimination against Women” on 8 Dec. 2022 in a series of events to observe Discrimination against Women Pakwara.
In collaboration with Stree Shakti: The Parallel Force and Chevening Alumni Project Fund organized “She Leads” training program for Strengthening Women’s Leadership in India on 17 Dec. 2022.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day the Centre organized a special session on “Digital Education – Necessity and Caution” on 2 March 2023. 80 female faculty members, research scholars and students attended the programme.
Organized Hands on Training on “Millet Based Value Added Food Products” for Anganwadi Workers of Kurukshetra district on 28 March 2023. 50 Anganwadi Workers participated in this training.
Organized an interactive session on “Gender Advancement – Transforming Higher Education Institutions” on 19 April 2023. Dr. Pratibha Jolly, FNASC, Finst P (IoP, UK) was the Keynote speaker. 25 faculty members attended the programme.
Organized Alumni Meet for students of M.A. Women’s Studies for the session 2020-22 on 10 August 2023. Prof. S.K. Chahal Dean, Faculty of social Sciences and Prof. C.P. Singh graced the occasion.
Organized one day training programme “She Leads: A Vision for Future” for strengthening women’s leadership in educational institutes, in collaboration with Stree Shakti: The Parallel Force on 22 August 2023. This programme was in online mode. 50 Women’s Cell in-charges and female faculty of affiliated colleges attended the programme.
Organized orientation/training programme for field investigators recruited under the research study “An Appraisal of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Scheme in Haryana” sponsored by National Commission for Women, New Delhi on 9 Sept. 2023.
Extension Activities
Health Check-Up
Under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organized Medical Checkup and Cervical Cancer Awareness Camp for rural women and girls at Chetana, Mirzapur Colony on 26 Feb. 2023. Dr. Aarti and Dr. Vinod from LNJP Hospital and Dr. Ashish Aneja from University Health Centre, Kurukshetra University conducted health checkup and blood tests. 298 women, girls and children participated in the camp.
Swavlamban: Skill Enhancement Programme
The Centre has been providing free 6 months training in Tailoring & Embroidery to rural women since 2006 through Tailoring & Embroidery Centre. Till now, 30 centres in villages surrounding Kurukshetra have been successfully completed. Five training centres were run in villages: Kalal Majra, Dayalpur, Kirmich, Barna and Pubnawa.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor KUK Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva inaugurated two more free Tailoring and Embroidery Centres for rural women and girls at New Mirzapur colony on 2 Sept. 2023 and village Bahari Mohalla on 6 Sept. 2023. Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra Alumni Association (KUKAA) provided sewing machines and the financial support.
The swavlamban programme was further extended to computer training in 2023. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor KUK Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva inaugurated two “Free Computer Training Centres” for women and youth in New Mirzapur Colony on 2 Sept. 2023 and in village Dayalpur on 4 Sept. 2023. Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra Alumni Association provided necessary computers, accessories and finances for these centres.
