About Us

In 1976 UGC established University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC) at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra as a Central Instrumentation Facility.  It was aimed to up keep the scientific equipment in the university science departments to give an impetuous to research and development (R&D) activities of the university. This endeavor was supported by providing the best human resource for the purpose.  With the support of state of art facilities and human resources in the field of instrumentation it played a pivotal role in R&D activities of the university.

The department of Home Science was established in 1998 to award M.Sc. degree in Foods & Nutrition (Nomenclature is now M.Sc. Food, Nutrition & Dietetics).  Ph.D in food & Nutrition was introduced in 2004 while M.Sc Human Development commenced from academic session 2008-09. The purpose of above said programs is:

To familiarize the students with different socio-economic milieus influencing nutritional status of the populace.

To groom a force of scholars who can work in especially various Govt. & Non-Govt. Institutions/NGO’s relating to children & Women.

To ready the students as entrepreneurs so that they can run their own enterprises.
