About Us

Department of Geology Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra was established in 1990 and presently running three programs : M.Sc. applied Geology 2 years, M. Tech. Applied Geology 5 Years Integrated Course and Ph.D. Students of Department of Geology are working in various National and International Organisations such as Geological Survey of India, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Indian Space Research Organisation, Central Groundwater Board, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, National Institute of Hydrology, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Archaeological Survey of India, IITs, NIT, National Institute of Geophysical Research, Physical Research Laboratory, Hindustan Zinc Limited Hindustan Copper Limited, Coal India Private Limited, Oil India Private Limited, Sutlaj Jamuna Vidyut Nigam Limited, National Hydro Power Corporation Limited, Central Road Research Institute, Central Building Research Institute.

The scheme and syllabus of the departmental courses is enriched with CBCS-LOCF approach, and two compulsory field trainings for each program that gives hands on training to the students on geological aspects.

VISION
The vision of the Department is to be globally acknowledged as a distinguished centre of academic excellence in Geosciences.

MISSION
Mission of the Department/Institute: To prepare a class of proficient Geo-scientists and scholars with world class knowledge of Geo-scientific aspects to expand the frontiers of geosciences for societal benefits with judicious exploration and utilization of earth resources.

Academic Achievements (if any):
Students are placed in various Govt. and non govt. Organisations/ Industries, etc. Some of these are Geological Survey of India (GSI), ONGC, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, ISRO, ASI, NCPOR, NIO Goa, Central Ground Water Board, SJVNL, NHDC, HZL, L&T, Kuwait Oil Company, BHU, KUK, Bundelkhand University, Manipur University. Survey of India and many more.

On the behalf of the department I assure you that we will help the students to peruse their objectives and to enhance their Geoscientific and Social Skills, and to enhance their Leadership Qualities in life.
