Chairperson Speaks

Philosophy has been a very important subject in higher education worldwide. But with the advent of modern technology, people starting thinking that science and technology are capable of solving all the problems of the world. But the reckless use of science and technology is driving us to the brink of destruction. Technology in itself is not destructive but it needs the guidance of philosophy because philosophical thinking is holistic and is able to see the consequences of our actions. Philosophy bring clarity by its critical and analytical methods of thinking.

Philosophy has an important role to play in higher education. Philosophy must be a central department which should help students and research scholars of all disciplines in their study and life at large.

Philosophy with its branches such as ethics and logic is beneficial not only for the students who study philosophy but students of other disciplines. With higher education becoming more and more interdisciplinary, philosophy can play a vital role in university teaching. The department has introduced many short term courses which can be done by the students of other disciplines as well, these courses   can help then in enhancing different skills

Keeping this in view, the department has started one certificate course and two diploma courses—

The department is planning to start a new course from next session

We will be working on more such courses in future also so that every student on the campus is able to be benefitted by philosophy
