Brief Profile:
Dr. Jitender Sharma is Professor in department of Biotechnology, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana. He is having an experience of more than 27 years in Biotechnology teaching and research and 8 years of administrative experience as Chairman of the Biotechnology department. He has worked as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow (2004 – 2005) at Biotechnology Research Center, Toyama Prefectural University, Japan, and was also awarded with DBT Overseas Associate-ship in 2008. He has also been honored with Leadership for Academicians Program (LEAP) by IIT (BHU), India in collaboration with Penn State University USA in 2019. Dr. Sharma has secured extramural research grants in the form of research projects from various funding agencies of Govt. of India like DBT, UGC etc. His core area of research has been isolation, screening, production and application of various industrially important enzymes. He has guided 17 students for successfully obtaining their Doctoral degree scholars and presently mentoring 2 PDFs. Besides publishing more than 100 research papers in national and international journals, Dr. Sharma has co-authored two books on different aspects of Biotechnology. He is member of various academic and research bodies at national level.
